Actress Yvonne Jegede has said she believes marriage is overrated and that, while she is happy for people who find joy in marriage, the institution does not always work in favour of women.

In the interview, Jegede explained that from her point of view and based on what she has seen around her, many women face heavy pressure and unequal expectations within marriage. She acknowledged there are exceptions, but said that in many cases the burden placed on women is not balanced.
