I Say Without Fear That All Of Us In The North Have No Other Political Leader Than Buhari — Doguwa

A member of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, has declared that political leaders in Northern Nigeria still regard the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as their undisputed leader, insisting that his influence and legacy remain deeply entrenched in the region.

Doguwa made the statement in a press briefing shared by Symfoni TV while speaking at the launch of a book authored by former Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed. According to him, Buhari’s leadership continues to shape political thinking and conduct among Northern politicians, even after his passing.

He explained that lawmakers and public office holders from the North remain committed to preserving the values and principles Buhari stood for during his lifetime. Doguwa stressed that those currently occupying positions of authority in both the legislative and executive arms of government must govern in line with the expectations of the people they represent.

According to the lawmaker, Buhari’s style of leadership was rooted in loyalty to the masses, particularly the poor and vulnerable, and that philosophy should continue to guide public officials. He urged leaders to see themselves as custodians of Buhari’s legacy by prioritizing policies and actions that improve the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

Doguwa further stated that Northern leaders would continue to associate with Buhari’s family members and close political allies across the country to ensure that the former president’s ideals are sustained. He said this collective approach is aimed at delivering tangible benefits to the people while maintaining political stability within the region.

He also assured that Northern Nigeria would remain politically and socially united, noting that religious leaders, traditional rulers, and political stakeholders all have important roles to play in sustaining cohesion. Doguwa emphasized that Buhari remains the only political leader recognized by Northern politicians and that his legacy will continue to guide their actions and decisions.
