I publicly admit that the stories I published concerning Soludo,his son were completely fake–Ofoegbu

According to a report by Punch on Saturday, July 11, 2026, a blogger, Ejike Ofoegbu, has issued a public apology and an unconditional retraction over a series of false reports published about Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and his son, Ozonna. Ofoegbu admitted that the reports were fabricated with the intention of generating online traffic and financial gain.

He acknowledged that the stories were not based on verified information and expressed regret over publishing the false claims.

The blogger stated that the reports did not meet acceptable standards of journalism and accepted responsibility for their publication.

The statement was shared on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.

In the document, the publisher formally withdrew the reports and apologised to Governor Soludo, his son and members of their family for the misinformation contained in the publications.

He described the retraction as unconditional and acknowledged that the stories should never have been published.

In the statement, Ofoegbu admitted that several reports attributed to Governor Soludo and his son were entirely fabricated and were not supported by verified facts or credible sources.

He stated that the publications were not based on information obtained from the governor, his son, members of their family or any authorised representatives.

According to him, the stories were created without factual verification and therefore lacked credibility. He admitted that the reports misrepresented the individuals concerned and failed to satisfy the basic principles of responsible journalism.

The blogger further acknowledged that the motive behind publishing the fabricated stories was to attract online traffic and generate financial returns through increased readership.

He admitted that the decision to publish the false reports was driven by the desire to increase engagement rather than to provide accurate information to the public.

Ofoegbu accepted responsibility for his actions and recognised the consequences that the fabricated publications could have had on the reputation of Governor Soludo, his son and their family.

The public apology also served as a formal withdrawal of all the false reports relating to Governor Soludo and Ozonna.

Ofoegbu expressed regret over the publication of the fabricated stories and apologised for any embarrassment, inconvenience or damage the reports may have caused.

By issuing the statement, he publicly acknowledged that the information previously published was false and reaffirmed that the stories did not originate from any credible or authorised source connected to the governor or his family.
