Harris Says More Us Pressure On Netanyahu Could Have Helped Protect Innocent Palestinians

According to a report by The Times Of Israel on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, former US vice president and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris expressed regret that the Biden administration did not exert more pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the Gaza conflict.

Speaking with the New York Times, Harris was asked to identify missteps or actions she would have taken differently from then-president Joe Biden. She responded that she wished she and the administration had done more to influence Netanyahu’s approach to the Gaza war, particularly “as it related to innocent Palestinians.” Her comments reflect a rare critique from a senior Democratic figure regarding US policy toward Israel during that period.

Harris also addressed the political rise of New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who has faced criticism for his vocal anti-Israel positions. Despite the controversy surrounding him, Harris defended Mamdani, saying, “I do not think he’s a scary face for the Democratic Party.”

Following Mamdani’s victory, Harris reportedly reached out to him personally. She offered guidance on executive responsibilities and tips for building a strong team, reflecting her willingness to mentor emerging Democratic leaders.
