Former presidential aide and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lauretta Onochie, has reacted to a dramatic scene at the National Assembly after several members of the House of Representatives staged a walkout during plenary in Abuja on Tuesday.

The incident, which occurred during the sitting of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, surprised many observers as lawmakers were seen chanting slogans and exiting the chamber in protest. Videos of the disruption quickly circulated on social media, generating widespread public debate.

Onochie, who served as an aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, shared footage of the incident on her official X account, where she offered insight into the lawmakers’ actions. She suggested that the protest was directed against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to her account, the plenary session became tense when members of the minority caucus openly expressed dissatisfaction with a decision reached by the majority. Their displeasure, she implied, culminated in the walkout.

Although the lawmakers did not formally explain their reasons to the public, the chants of “APC ole” heard in the video suggested deep opposition to a resolution they believed did not reflect the interests of the people.

The footage shared by Onochie showed the protesting lawmakers filing out of the chamber while chanting, underscoring the level of disagreement within the House and drawing attention to the divisions that surfaced during the session…. Discover More
