East Has Chosen Obi Or Nothing—Amadi On VP Shettima Saying There Are Better People In East Than Obi

‎In a recent statement via his official X account, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has reacted to comments by Vice President Kashim Shettima concerning Peter Obi, insisting that the remarks do not fairly represent the South-East.

‎‎”I have respect for the VP because he has respect for me too. But may be I should tell him that the Southeast has chosen Peter Obi or nothing. May be after 2031 the region can choose others who prove their mettle. Now, it looks like ‘Peter or nothing’ for southeasterners,” he wrote.

‎In his post, Amadi stated that he respects the Vice President on a personal level because the feeling is mutual, but he believes it is necessary to speak honestly about the issue and explained that maintaining cordial relationships should not stop anyone from pointing out statements that may be misleading or inappropriate in a democratic setting.

‎He argued that the suggestion that Peter Obi is not among the best the South-East can offer is flawed, according to him, the region is filled with many highly qualified and competent individuals who are capable of leading the country effectively and stressed that reducing the conversation to a single individual does not reflect the depth of talent in the region.

‎Amadi further stated that public officials must be careful with their words, as such comments can be interpreted as dismissive or divisive and noted that leadership discussions should focus on competence, vision, and national interest rather than remarks that could create unnecessary political tension.

‎He added that while political disagreements are normal, they should be handled with a sense of responsibility and respect for all regions and warned that statements from top government officials carry weight and can influence how different parts of the country feel included or excluded.

‎Amadi maintained that the South-East has consistently produced capable leaders and professionals across different sectors, he said it is important to recognize this reality instead of making comments that may appear to undermine the region….See More
