“During Buhari’s Era, Did It Ever Happen? – Primate Ayodele Questions Nigeria’s New Global Rating”

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has reacted to the recent development in which Nigeria was reportedly delisted from the list of the world’s most corrupt countries, expressing surprise and skepticism over the move.

Speaking during a recent address at his church headquarters in Lagos, the revered cleric questioned the credibility of such international assessments, recalling that similar recognition was never granted during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who campaigned vigorously on an anti-corruption platform.

“During Buhari’s tenure, did it ever happen like this? They once listed Nigeria as one of the most corrupt nations in the world; Now that they’ve delisted us, many people are not happy,” Primate Ayodele remarked.

He noted that while delisting Nigeria from the corruption index may seem like progress, it does not reflect the true reality of the nation’s current situation; According to him, corruption still exists in various forms across institutions, and the citizens continue to face hardship and poor governance.

Primate Ayodele further stated that true progress cannot be measured by foreign ratings but by visible transformation in governance, leadership accountability, and the welfare of the people; He urged the Nigerian government to focus on practical reforms that will restore public trust and improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens.

Nigeria must not be carried away by international praise; What we need are sincere actions that reduce poverty, ensure justice, and promote transparency; Only then can we say we are truly progressing, he added.
