Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission recently reacted after the FCT minister and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike told voters to vote and leave the rest to him. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he blamed the opposition for failing in their roles.
The former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike recently caused a stir after he made a striking comment during the campaign rally in support of the APC candidate, Alhaji Dantani in the Abuja area council elections.
The former Rivers State governor, in his statements which stirred massive public reactions, urged voters in the FCT area council elections supporting the APC candidate to vote and leave the rest to him.
Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, however, blamed the opposition for the FCT minister’s boldness.
According to his statements, the widely admired legal practitioner pointed out that the reason behind the former governor’s comments were because opposition was non-existent.
Opposition in Nigeria, according to Chidi Odinkalu has been left to non governmental organizations and the ordinary citizens. This, meant that the promises of the FCT minister should have been challenged.
