Human rights lawyer and former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, has sparked fresh conversation on social media after questioning a remark made by the Minister of the FCT and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, during Ayodele Fayose’s birthday celebration.
The event, which drew top politicians from different parties, became even more dramatic following Wike’s appearance—especially coming shortly after the PDP announced his suspension over alleged anti-party activities.
While delivering his goodwill message to the former Ekiti State governor, Wike referred to Fayose as his “younger brother,” a comment that immediately caught attention both at the venue and online. Fayose had just clocked 65, while Wike is officially 58.
The statement quickly made its way across social media platforms, prompting Odinkalu to react on his official X account. In his post, he questioned the logic behind Wike’s choice of words, hinting that the age difference made the “younger brother” reference difficult to justify.
Odinkalu wrote:“So, Ayo Fayose turns 65 and Wike, who is officially 58yrs, calls Gov Fayose his ‘dear younger brother..’? Am I the only person who heard that?”
