Call Me Whatever Name You Want To Call Me, Put My Name On The Internet,Say Anything, I will not—Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has made it clear that he will not approve or pay for inflated or illegal contracts awarded behind his back. He said this while flagging off a new project in Abuja, warning civil servants and contractors who secretly award contracts without his knowledge.

In a video shared by AIT News, according to him, some people are running campaigns claiming they have not been paid for projects. But Wike insisted that unless he personally approved those contracts, there would be no payment. He accused some officials of awarding contracts worth billions without his consent, leaving behind massive debts for the government to clear.

Wike stressed that no amount of pressure, protests, or online campaigns would make him change his decision. He explained that democracy gives people the right to demonstrate and protest, unlike under military rule, where people could be punished or harmed for speaking out. However, he added that protesting over false claims or illegal contracts would not force him to bend the rules.

The FCT Minister said people are free to insult him, call him names, or post negative comments about him on the internet, but none of that would move him. He maintained that his focus is on protecting public funds and ensuring that only genuine and transparent contracts are executed in the capital city.
