According to The Times of Israel, In a stark warning to Western allies, the head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, David Barnea, has expressed profound skepticism over the prospects of a diplomatic solution to curb Iran’s nuclear program.
His remarks come amid renewed, and reportedly stalled, international efforts to revive the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Speaking at a security conference on Tuesday, Barnea framed the current negotiations as a recurring cycle of Iranian manipulation, accusing the regime of exploiting diplomatic talks to buy time for atomic advancement.
He emphasized that Israel views the potential for a revived agreement with extreme caution, insisting any deal must include stringent, long-term safeguards and address Iran’s regional aggression and ballistic missile development.
At the core of his address was a firm declaration of Israel’s unilateral stance.
“Iran believes it can deceive the world once again and implement yet another bad nuclear deal, Barnea stated.
“We did not and will not allow a bad deal to come to fruition.
The comments underscore the growing tension between Israel’s government and key partners, including the United States, which continues to pursue a return to the accord.
Analysts interpret Barnea’s language as both a direct challenge to Tehran and a clear signal to Washington that Israel reserves the right to act militarily should diplomacy fail to meet its security thresholds.
The Iranian mission to the United Nations has repeatedly denied seeking nuclear weapons and maintains its program is for peaceful civilian purposes.
However, International Atomic Energy Agency reports confirm Tehran has amassed a significant stockpile of highly enriched uranium far beyond the limits of the original deal.
