Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and lawyer has taken to his official X handle to voice his displeasure over the insensitivity of the commander in chief of the armed forces regarding the death of a military general. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that on the day the general was murdered, the flag was not lowered.
The brutal murder of a military general in Borno State by unidentified bandits believed to be members of a local terrorist group generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
However, the inability of the commander in chief of the armed forces, President Tinubu to sanction a manhunt for the murderers and lower the flag in his honor infuriated Chidi Odinkalu.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Tuesday November 18th 2025, he pointed out that on the day bandits killed the general and also 25 Schoolgirls were abducted, Judges were made to sing ‘on your mandate’.
The phrase, which has become synonymous with inability to oppose the government of the day, as used by Chidi Odinkalu, indicated that not many were pleased with the actions of the Judges during the conference.
These were some of the words of Chidi Odinkalu which he shared on his official X handle,
“…On the day it broke that a bunch of terrorists had immolated a General in Borno….the CinC did not see fit to lower the flag…” He wrote.
