According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Kaduna State has embarrassed critics of the president, particularly opposition figures who questioned his acceptance in northern Nigeria.
Onanuga stated that the massive support displayed during the campaign had challenged claims made by political opponents about Tinubu’s popularity in the region.
He maintained that the event demonstrated that the president continued to enjoy support among people in the North.
The presidential aide accused opposition leaders of spreading misleading narratives about Tinubu’s political acceptance.
According to him, the turnout and show of solidarity at the campaign contradicted suggestions that the president would struggle to gain support in northern communities.
He specifically criticised members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing them of portraying Tinubu as a leader who would not be welcomed in any part of northern Nigeria.
Onanuga described their position as an attempt to undermine the president’s political standing ahead of the forthcoming electoral contest.
In a post shared on his official X account, Onanuga highlighted moments from the commencement of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna.
He presented the event as evidence that the opposition’s claims about the president’s acceptance in the region were unfounded.
The presidential aide said the support recorded at the campaign had challenged the narrative promoted by Tinubu’s critics.
He argued that the gathering had demonstrated the president’s ability to attract supporters in Kaduna, despite opposition claims questioning his popularity across the North.
Onanuga wrote: “Unforgettable moments from the start of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna.
“The show of support bothers the ‘bad belle’ ADC opposition leaders, who spread the false idea that President Tinubu wouldn’t be welcome in any part of northern Nigeria.
