Former Abia State Governor and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership against counting on support from Obidient movement members and Labour Party supporters in the Southeast for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an interview with Channels TV, Kalu was straightforward about the political reality in the region. “Anybody telling you that Obidients and Labour party members will vote for President Tinubu, its a naked fallacy. The Obidients and Labour party will never vote for APC, not just President Tinubu. So it is good for us to cut our way and know where we stand,” he stated.
Despite the political divide, Kalu expressed a desire to maintain a cordial relationship with Governor Alex Otti, whom he described as a friend. “I don’t want us to heat up the state. I want to give him the opportunity to work. I want to give him the opportunity to do whatever he can do good to our state people,” he said.
The former governor drew a clear distinction between personal friendship and political rivalry. “I’m a member of APC. I’ll work for APC. Otti should work for Labor Party. We should not lose friendship,” Kalu stated, adding that he would continue visiting the governor whenever he travels to Abia State.
He noted, however, that party loyalty would take precedence on election day. “It is only one day that we will quarrel. And that is on the election day, everybody will answer his mother’s name and father’s name. We will answer our names based on party differences,” he said… Discover More
