An Overnight Strike Killed a man and His Wife Inside Their Own Flat In Gaza City” — Hani Mahmoud

According to a video posted on Al Jazeera, on Monday July 6, 2026, Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud reported that an overnight airstrike killed a man and his wife inside their home in Gaza City, one of several attacks recorded across the territory within a short span of hours despite the ongoing ceasefire.

Mahmoud said the strike happened at around 2:00 a.m. in one of Gaza City’s dense neighborhoods, an area home not only to residents but also to displaced families sheltering nearby.

He explained that the attack was one of four airstrikes recorded within just twelve hours across different parts of the Gaza Strip, illustrating how frequent such incidents have become even as ceasefire talks continue.

In his words, Hani Mahmoud said, “Within the span of the 12 hours we look at four of the air strikes, one in Gaza City at about 2:00 a.m. and overnight attacks that killed a man and his wife inside his flat here in Gaza City in one of the neighborhoods that happens to be a dense neighborhood full not just the resident but also displaced families around the area that was targeted,” he said.

Mahmoud went on to describe further attacks the same night in the southern city of Khan Yunis, where two strikes hit within an hour of each other, killing several people and injuring others.

He also mentioned a separate attack in Deir al-Balah that targeted a moving vehicle, which caught fire, though no casualties were reported in that particular incident.

He added that drones and quadcopters continue to patrol the skies over Gaza around the clock, particularly near the so-called yellow line, an area where many displaced families have set up tents in an effort to stay close to home despite the risks.
