Former Finance Minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has recounted a terrifying personal experience during her tenure, revealing that her home in Abuja’s Maitama district was broken into while she was in office.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Adeosun highlighted what she described as a troubling lapse in her security protection.
“My home was broken into, all the people that were supposed to be protecting me, the police were asleep,” she said, recalling the incident.
Adeosun, who served as Nigeria’s Finance Minister from 2015 to 2018, explained that the break-in underscored the risks public officials face, even in high-security neighborhoods. She noted that the breach was both a personal shock and a professional concern, raising questions about the effectiveness of security arrangements for top government officials.
While she did not provide further details about the circumstances of the break-in, Adeosun’s revelation sheds light on broader issues of security in Abuja and other urban centers. Despite having official protection, she said the response from security personnel during the incident was inadequate, leaving her vulnerable at a time when the nation looked to its leaders for stability and confidence.
