According to Iran International, Iran’s nuclear program has reportedly reached a highly advanced stage, according to Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.
In statements highlighted by Iran International on their verified Twitter account, Kamalvandi offered insights into the technical distinctions between building a nuclear weapon and operating a civilian nuclear power plant.
Kamalvandi noted that constructing a nuclear bomb is, in some ways, simpler than running a nuclear power plant. “The simplest task is to build a nuclear bomb, because it does not need fuel control and explodes at once,” he explained. In contrast, he described a nuclear power plant as far more complex, requiring constant oversight of fuel levels and reaction management. “But building a nuclear power plant, which needs control of fuel and reaction levels, is difficult and technical,” he said.
Highlighting Iran’s progress, Kamalvandi added: “We have reached the edge of power in the nuclear field, and there is no unknown issue left for us.” His remarks suggest that Iran has developed extensive expertise in nuclear technology, positioning itself as a technically capable state in both civilian and potentially military nuclear arenas.
These comments come amid ongoing international scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. While Tehran maintains its nuclear program is peaceful, the acknowledgment that a nuclear weapon is technically simpler than a power plant is likely to heighten concerns among the United States, Israel, and other global actors.
