In a recent Video Shared on SYMFONI TV, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has lifted the lid on the reasons behind delays in critical government project funding, revealing that legal obstacles from the courts significantly affected the state’s finances.
Governor Fubara explained that the first payment for the project was made only after the initial court judgment, which had barred the state from accessing all funds from the federal government; He described the judgment as a major hurdle but insisted that the administration remained committed to ensuring projects were executed despite the financial constraints.
“The court ruling temporarily restricted our access to federal allocations, which meant we had to carefully navigate financial management to keep ongoing projects on track,” Fubara said.
The Governor’s disclosure comes amid public scrutiny over the pace of development projects in Rivers State; Critics had questioned delays in key initiatives, prompting debates about financial management and governance in the state; Fubara, however, defended his administration, asserting that the legal challenges were beyond the state’s control.
He added that the government had implemented measures to prevent such delays in the future, including improved coordination with federal agencies and stricter project monitoring systems; Fubara also reassured residents that Rivers State would continue to prioritize developmental projects, stressing that no legal setback would derail the administration’s agenda.
