According to a report by the Times of Israel on Thursday 18 December, 2025, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited subway project in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area on Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu painted a picture of confidence and strength, describing Israel as more powerful than it has ever been.
According to him, the country’s growing influence is not accidental. Netanyahu argued that strength is what shapes diplomacy, noting that international agreements and lasting peace are usually forged with nations that project power and stability. In that context, he openly described Israel as a global force to be reckoned with, stressing that this status matters in an increasingly tense region. “Pacts are made with the strong. Peace is made with the strong,” he said.
The prime minister also pointed to recent developments as proof of that strength. He highlighted a major natural gas agreement with Egypt announced the previous night and spoke glowingly about what he called the solid performance of Israel’s economy, suggesting both were signs of resilience and strategic leverage.
Netanyahu’s remarks come just weeks before his scheduled visit to the United States, where he is expected to meet President Donald Trump. Those talks, officials say, will likely focus on the future of the Gaza ceasefire as well as possible normalization deals with additional Arab countries.
