Tinubu: His 1st Daughter Travel To Benin To Prevail On The Monarch, Decide When She Wants Install”Akah

Social critic and human rights advocate Peter Akah has delivered a scathing assessment of the Tinubu administration, describing the 2023 presidential election outcome as a costly bargain for Nigerians who are now dealing with multiple centers of power.

Speaking on ARISE TV’s Perspectives program, Akah stated: “In making electing President Tinubu as president was like going for a November black Friday purchase with a condition that you buy one you get three free. So you get the father as president who is dishing out incompetent leadership in security is ravaging the country battered the economy corruption is in high heavens.”

The human rights advocate elaborated on what he described as a multiplicity of unofficial offices wielding significant influence. “Then you have the office of the first son moving with security that according to professor Wole Soyinka should be able to quell tensions in a country like Benin Republic. Then you have the office of the first daughter who can travel to a state like Benin to prevail on the monarch to decide who she wants to be installed as Baba or Iyaloja,” Akah explained.

He particularly criticized the financial allocations to the office of the First Lady, noting: “And then you have the office of the wife of the president where we can budget 1.5 billion to purchase of SUVs in the office of the president.”

Akah’s comments came during a discussion on the recent incident at the Ooni of Ife’s 10th coronation anniversary, where First Lady Oluremi Tinubu publicly interrupted Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke while he was speaking. The social critic described the incident as “a tale of recklessness” that demonstrates how “politics and public office lack the ethics and decorum that should guide leaders.”

“At the end of the Tinubu administration, every Nigerian deserves to be given a certificate of survival and endurance because we are going through a lot,” Akah declared, emphasizing the hardships Nigerians face under the current government.

The critic questioned the appropriateness of lavish celebrations during national crises, pointing out that the coronation anniversary festivities occurred while “more than 100 of our children from Niger state are still with terrorists.”

He added: “So in Nigeria leaders can feast even when the people are being slain to death.”

Akah also highlighted what he described as a pattern of behavior from the First Lady, referencing previous incidents including her intervention during a Senate hearing involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. “Remember the Senate hearing committee hearing on the questioning of Senator Natasha when she was in the national assembly she was telling the then senator that he should put off his mic and also that they had the capacity to suspend,” he recalled.

The human rights advocate called for Nigerians to hold public officials to higher ethical standards, questioning the existence and financing of the office of the First Lady, which he noted is not constitutionally recognized. He compared Nigeria’s situation unfavorably with established democracies, asking: “Imagine for a second that we replace this video with a clip of the wife of the US president and probably the governor of the US state of California and imagine what will likely be the probable conduct.”
