Newly nominated Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has assured Nigerians that he is fully committed to making the country safer as insecurity continues to trouble many communities. He gave this reassurance during his screening at the Senate chamber shortly after being nominated by President Bola Tinubu to replace former Defence Minister Badaru Mohammed, who resigned recently due to health concerns.
According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, during the screening, Gen Musa explained that the nation is facing dangerous groups whose actions show a clear disregard for human life. According to him, these groups are responsible for violence, kidnappings, and attacks that have made life difficult for ordinary citizens. He described them as forces working to destabilize the country, and stressed that everyone must see security as a joint responsibility.
He stated that restoring peace will require teamwork among government officials, the military, and everyday Nigerians. He encouraged the public to stay alert, support security agencies, and avoid spreading fear or false information. Gen Musa believes that if citizens and authorities work hand in hand, criminals will have less room to operate.
He also expressed confidence that Nigeria can overcome its security challenges with unity, discipline, and determination.
In his words, “The enemies we are dealing with are evil forces that don’t mean well for this country and have no respect for human lives.”
