According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of SYMFONI, while discussing systemic opposition challenges, Ameh expressed his astonishment, stating, “This is the first time I’m seeing that a Supreme Court judgment can be overturned by a State High Court.” He argued that state actors use the courts and INEC to undermine the opposition, achieving partisan goals and thereby weakening democratic checks and balances.
Ameh highlighted a critical structural flaw, noting that INEC is a federal body established under the constitution. He argued that no state court should possess the authority to issue conflicting orders against INEC’s operations. This unusual level of judicial interference, he implied, suggests a political strategy intentionally designed to sow chaos and cripple opposition parties, preventing them from effectively challenging the ruling government.
