Maxwell Opara, a seasoned Nigerian lawyer, has given his take on the recent conviction of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Recently, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has sparked mixed reactions amongst Nigerians after sentencing the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment.
However, during an interview with Arise News, the legal practitioner, Maxwell Opara, criticized the court judgement sentencing Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment.
Opara recalled how the IPOB leader had sent him on a trip to Europe to meet with Simon Ekpa, a Finnish politician, in a bid to end the sit-at-home order in the southeast regions of Nigeria.
According to the video, “When this issue started, Nnamdi Kanu sent me to Europe to go and talk to Simon Ekpa so he can stop the sit-at-home.”
