Kanu: All Prominent Igbo Leaders Have Gone To Plead On His Behalf, From Buhari To Tinubu-Agomuo

Political and Public Affairs Analyst, Barrister Darlington Agomuo, has offered a counterpoint to assertions suggesting that leaders from the Igbo ethnic group have not adequately worked toward securing the freedom of the detained IPOB figure, Nnamdi Kanu.

During an appearance on a television program, Agomuo challenged the idea of insufficient cooperation from the South-East region. He posited that numerous influential personalities from the area have consistently engaged in advocacy and made direct appeals to various administrations holding the nation’s highest office.

The analyst maintained that available information confirms that distinguished Igbo figures have met with both the previous and current presidents to advocate for a non-judicial approach to Kanu’s situation. He stressed that prominent leaders across the South-East have made documented pleas for Kanu’s release, directly addressing claims that such efforts have been withheld or minimal.

These comments arise within the context of continuing discussion regarding the level of dedication demonstrated by South-East elders toward resolving the complex issues surrounding Kanu’s extended confinement. While certain critiques have targeted the region’s political elite, alleging indifference or lack of action, Agomuo firmly rejected these criticisms as based on incomplete understanding.

He further underscored that the proactive involvement of Igbo leaders demonstrates a sincere commitment to establishing peace and stability within their region. The goal of their interventions, he clarified, is to address the underlying factors that contribute to ongoing unrest.
