Former Nigerian Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has strongly criticized Goldie Ghamari, a former Canadian Provincial Parliament member, for her comments made on Piers Morgan Uncensored. Ghamari alleged that Nigeria is facing a “Christian genocide” and is being governed by “Islamists.”
In a post on his official X account on November 19, 2025, Fani-Kayode dismissed Ghamari’s statements as ignorant, divisive, and based on personal biases. He questioned her credibility and political history, referencing her past expulsion from Doug Ford’s Conservative caucus in Ontario due to accusations of Islamophobic remarks, along with subsequent sanctions by the Law Society of Ontario.
Fani-Kayode argued that Ghamari’s political downfall in Canada undermines her authority on international matters, asserting that she has long since lost public trust and is known for spreading polarizing narratives about issues ranging from the Middle East to Nigeria.
He praised Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, who appeared with Ghamari on Morgan’s show, for refuting her assertions and defending Nigeria against what he called misleading rhetoric.
During the interview, Ghamari claimed that violence in Nigeria exclusively targets Christians, and suggested that the Nigerian government has dangerous ties with Iran that undermine democracy. Nigerian officials have repeatedly rejected such claims as oversimplifications of the complex security situation affecting various religious groups.
The interview has sparked considerable reactions on social media, especially in Nigeria, where many criticized Ghamari for relying on outdated or skewed narratives about the country’s security issues.
