Deejay Kulet, a Nigerian female disc jockey known for her hip-hop and Fuji mixtapes, has revealed that her troubled childhood led her to seek romantic relationships at a very young age due to early exposure to s£x and emotional neglect.
In an interview with the “TALK TO B” show, Kulet whose real name is Kudi Gbemisola Salami, said she was often punished at home without being given a chance to explain herself.
She explained that whenever someone outside the family reported her behavior, her mother would beat her first and ask questions later. According to her, this harsh treatment made her feel unsafe at home, leading her to sleep under bridges or stay at friends’ houses.
Kulet said that because she had been exposed to s£x and romance early in life, she began actively seeking boyfriends at a tender age. She admitted that this emotional void and lack of guidance pushed her into stealing, as she struggled to cope with her circumstances.
Her words, “If an outsider reports me to my mom or any family member, my mom would come home and beat me she would not ask what happened and if she eventually did, it would be after the beating. So I started staying away from home. I started sleeping under bridge. I will sleep at my friend’s place. In some cases, I will be the one to go and look for a boyfriend at a very tender age because I have been exposed to s£x. I have been exposed to romance, so I want more. So I started stealing.”
