The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has worsened after Senator Jarigbe Agom openly defended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, dismissing efforts to expel him as a pointless and poorly thought-out move.
In an interview with TVC News on November 16, 2025, the Cross River North senator described the attempt to remove Wike as a “huge joke,” arguing that party leaders are only playing into Wike’s hands.
He said the expulsion move is exactly what Wike wants and warned that Wike, given his personality, would respond forcefully.
Jarigbe insisted that PDP leaders should have chosen reconciliation rather than confrontation, cautioning that a combative approach will only deepen the party’s internal divisions.
He said: “The expulsion of the FCT minister, His Excellency Wike, is a huge joke because they’re giving him exactly what he wants. That’s the recipe he needs, and he’s going to give it back to them, knowing the kind of person he is. They should have gone for reconciliation instead of confrontation. Wike isn’t even contesting any election right now, yet many who accuse him of destroying the PDP and supporting President Tinubu are hypocrites they do the same things secretly, while Wike does not.
