Thompson Reminds: I Warned Years Ago — An Al-Qaeda Member Was Made a Minister in Nigeria

A Nigerian security consultant, Ladi Thompson, has revisited a shocking claim he made years ago regarding terrorism infiltration in government. Speaking during an interview on Channels TV, Thompson lamented that despite his warnings, authorities chose to look the other way.

According to him, he once publicly revealed that someone with alleged links to Al-Qaeda was appointed as a federal minister in Nigeria, yet the issue was brushed aside. “I said it some years ago that an Al-Qaeda member was appointed a federal minister in Nigeria. And I remember I said it publicly. Why are we pretending?” he recalled.

Thompson also referenced a 2012 U.S. Congressional hearing on Nigeria, claiming controversial revelations were made about foreign involvement in the nation’s security crisis at the time. He alleged that a top American official was believed to have supported Boko Haram during that period.

The security adviser argued that global counter-terrorism strategies shifted during Donald Trump’s administration, suggesting that earlier international policies tended to accommodate extremist groups in exchange for control over territories.

He urged Nigerian leaders to abandon denial and politics when tackling the growing threat of terrorism, warning that corruption and complacency are endangering future generations. Thompson stressed that only decisive and honest action can secure Nigeria’s future, not financial games or excuses.
