Reactions After It Was Reported That Fuel Prices Is Set To Rise After BAT Approved 15% Import Tariff

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to react after reports revealed that fuel prices will rise following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of a 15% import tariff on petroleum products.

According to Arise News, which made the announcement on its official X handle on Thursday, October 30, 2025, petrol prices could increase by as much as ₦150 per litre, with diesel expected to rise even higher. The new tariff is to be implemented immediately.

The approved proposal seeks to introduce a “measured import tariff” on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel.
