Evangelist Ezekiel Dachomo, a Plateau-based cleric, has described the situation in his community as one of constant fear, saying residents now go to bed uncertain of waking up alive. In a recent interview, he recounted that attacks on Christian villages have continued unabated, forcing families to live in fear each night. The cleric said insecurity in Plateau State has left many displaced, adding that government intervention is urgently needed to restore peace and protect lives.
According to an interview posted by Punch Newspaper on October 25, 2025, while speaking about the recent killings in Heipang near Jos, Evangelist Dachomo said, “We go to bed each night fearing we may die before morning.” He revealed that fear among residents has reached breaking point, explaining that attacks often happen at night when most people are asleep, leaving communities defenceless and traumatised. He called on authorities to act swiftly before more lives are lost.
He narrated that in the latest attack, armed men invaded the Heipang community and killed several residents, including children, while others sustained injuries. Dachomo said many survivors have been forced to relocate to nearby towns for safety. He alleged that the attacks have persisted for years, spreading across parts of Plateau and neighbouring states. The cleric appealed for unity among residents, saying violence only deepens division and that peace efforts must be strengthened at all levels.
Dachomo also shared his personal experiences, saying he has survived multiple assassination attempts and continues to receive threats over his public statements. Despite this, he insists on speaking out for victims of the attacks. He explained that documenting and sharing these incidents is his way of preserving the truth for future generations. In his message to the government, Evangelist Dachomo urged President Bola Tinubu and state authorities to take decisive action to end the killings and ensure justice for victims. He said Nigeria belongs to people of all faiths and that peaceful coexistence must be protected. Dachomo also called on security agencies to intensify patrols in rural areas and prevent further attacks.
