Last Year, I Was In Birnin Kebbi, And It Wasn’t Like This -Gen. Christopher Musa

Kebbi State’s executive head, Nasir Idris, has categorically refuted allegations that his team recruited international security experts to tackle armed raids in the region, according to a Punch bulletin dated October 23, 2025. The rebuttal came amid a session with top military official General Christopher Musa at the State House in Birnin Kebbi earlier that week, where Idris voiced unwavering trust in domestic defense units to manage threats independently.

Idris labeled the rumors of outside contractors as baseless fabrications, declaring, “That’s false. I’d never bring in outsiders for this. Our forces are giving it their all, and I’m completely content with their results.” He highlighted his government’s ongoing backing for local protectors, including supply provisions and transport resources to sharpen responses in high-risk zones.

General Musa lauded Idris’s strides in uplifting Kebbi, spotlighting leaps in roads, schooling, farming, healthcare, and safety measures. “My last trip here was last year, and the scene was worlds apart,” Musa reflected, applauding the sweeping upgrades during Idris’s watch.

The defense chief credited the governor’s steady aid to troops as a game-changer in curbing raids and lawlessness locally. Musa committed to ramping up campaigns for lasting calm in Kebbi and nationwide.

Idris renewed pledges of partnership with enforcers and called on locals to share prompt tips to aid crackdowns. The encounter underscored the deepening alliance between regional and federal security brass in fortifying Nigeria’s northwest against unrest.
