Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the Executive Director of the Patriots for Advancement of Peace and Social Development, has stated that claims of Christian genocide by bandits and terrorists in northern Nigeria are false and misleading
In an interview with TVC, Shinkafi said that in states like Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina, Christians make up less than two percent of the total population. He said the pattern of attacks in the northwest shows that both Muslims and Christians are victims of killings, kidnappings, and other forms of violence
Shinkafi said bandits, insurgents, and Boko Haram fighters have been attacking Muslims too, including those performing prayers in mosques in places like Katsina and Zamfara
In Shinkafi’s words: “The percentage of Christians in Zamfara State and Sokoto State, even In Kebbi State are not up to two percent of the total population density, including in Katsina State. So if you look at how people are being abducted, mercilessly killed, kidnapped for ransom in the northwest the report is just fabricated to cause seriously disharmony between Christians and Muslims in the northern Nigeria, even in Nigeria at large ”
