Bishop Matthew Kukah has stated that the Sultan of Sokoto misunderstood the point he (Kukah) was making during his lecture at a book launch, where he spoke about jihad and Islamism
In an interview with Signature TV, Bishop Kukah said when he spoke against jihad, he was referring to the kind of jihad being practiced by some people today that involves violence and bloodshed. Bishop Kukah said some jihadists go about killing people, including their fellow Muslims, while shouting “Allahu Akbar”
In Bishop Kukah’s exact words: “What you are witnessing even in northern Nigeria is a breakdown of the moral authority of religion. That is what I was saying in my lecture, maybe the Sultan didn’t quite understand what I was saying when he said to me talking about Jihad (sic). I am not talking about Jihad as seeking to improve yourself, that is not where we are. We are talking about people who are slaughtering other Muslims and saying Allahu Akbar” See, More, Here>>>>
