According to Fox TV on Wednesday, July 30, 2026, Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst said the United States is weighing a range of military and diplomatic options regarding Iran, with President Donald Trump expected to consult senior advisers on whether to proceed with a broader strike package or pursue a diplomatic resolution.
Reporting on the latest developments, Yingst said senior military officials remain actively involved in planning operations and coordinating closely with Israel amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
“Look, Admiral Brad Cooper is certainly in the mix, and he remains one of the top planners for the U.S. military. When we think back to Operation Epic Fury, the bombing campaign conducted alongside Israeli forces was coordinated on an hourly basis. U.S. Central Command actually has soldiers here in Tel Aviv and other locations in Israel to ensure that this coordination is taking place at the highest level. I mention Israel because there is a possibility that Israeli jets are used if this broader strike package is approved by President Trump.”
He explained that recent military actions were intended to discourage further attacks on American personnel and allied forces in the region by demonstrating the consequences of such actions.
“What we’re seeing right now is a display of deterrence by the United States. Last night, heavy strikes were ordered against Iran to show the Iranians that there is a cost and that they will pay a price if they try to attack U.S. forces or allies in the region.”
Yingst added that while military preparations continue, the White House is also evaluating diplomatic options before making any final decision on further action.
“As it relates to this larger strike package, the president does have a variety of options and is likely to speak with top advisers this week to determine if there is an off-ramp here, if the Iranians are actually willing to make an agreement that can be adhered to. The president talked about this yesterday in the Oval Office.”
He further stated that, according to the assessment presented, there are differing centres of influence within Iran, raising questions about the prospects of any future agreement.
“They are dealing with two groups of people inside Iran: one, the relatively more moderate voices—we are talking about the country’s foreign minister and the country’s parliament speaker.
