I Pray For Tinubu To Be Healthy, Let Him Continue To Mess Around So We Can Throw Him Out — Dalung

Solomon Dalung, the former minister of youths and sports, has said that he prays for President Bola Tinubu to be healthy and to be strong and let him continue to mess around so that they can throw him out in the next presidential election.

In an interview with Trust TV, Dalung made this remark while downplaying the political value of U.S. endorsement of the security efforts of Tinubu’s administration.

He was asked if the politician in him is jealous that applause from the U.S. government for its collaboration with Nigeria in fighting insecurity could give the Tinubu administration a political boost, especially since his ADC candidate is also lobbying American policymakers.

Dalung replied that if anything happens to Tinubu, his supporters would claim he would have performed better if allowed to continue. He noted that Tinubu is now even stronger than when he became president.

He argued that if anybody has been transformed by Tinubu’s policy, it is Tinubu himself, his family, and some members of his government.

He said the endorsement from America has nothing to do with an average Nigerian, who is concerned about hunger, poverty, insecurity, and unemployment among the youth.

He questioned how the endorsement of the Americans addresses these problems and whether there is any report of positive results since the US military arrived in Nigeria.

Dalung described the U.S. endorsement as window dressing that means nothing to Nigerians. He insisted that if President Tinubu does not sit down to tackle domestic issues, no endorsement from anywhere, not even America, will help him in 2027 because Americans are not coming to vote in Nigeria.

In his words, “Well, the politician in me is the type that prays for Tinubu to be healthy, to be strong, and let him continue to mess around so that we can throw him out.”

“Because if anything happens to Tinubu, his supporters will say, oh, if he had been allowed, he would have done this. So, I want him to be strong now that he’s even stronger than when he became president.”

“Because if there is anybody that has been transformed by Tinubu’s policy, it’s Tinubu himself and his family and some members of his government.
