The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army in Ibadan, Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife, has revealed that some hunters lost their lives during the joint military operation to rescue the abducted school teachers and pupils from Oriire Local Government Area.
Speaking on Channels TV, Nnebeife said, “We had the local vigilante and Amotekun in the operation, and we lost a few of those hunters. We have troops from Operation Savannah Shield in Kwara. We had to bring them in to do a kind of blocking force from the northern side of the state, and of course other security agencies,” he said.
He revealed that the operation drew in an extensive range of security forces from across the country. He noted that the National Counterterrorism Unit’s tactical team was deployed alongside a Defence Headquarters special forces team comprising personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, DSS, Civil Defence, and the National Intelligence Agency.
According to him, the Nigerian Police from Oyo State and the DSS also participated, while the Nigerian Air Force contributed both its Oyo State contingent and a specialist tactical operations group from Kainji, which brought fighter aircraft to the mission…SĒĒ MORĒ
