Oyo: Obi Said Tinubu Didn’t Call Makinde Since They Got Kidnapped; That Call Wasn’t Needed-Dr. Oludare Marindoti

Dr. Oludare Marindoti has said the successful rescue of the abducted students and principal of Community High School, Esiele, Oyo State, demonstrates that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde worked together despite political differences.

Speaking during an interview on TVC News, on Saturday, 11 July, 2026, while reacting to the rescue operation, Marindoti dismissed suggestions that there was a lack of communication between the President and the Oyo State governor during the crisis. He argued that the outcome of the rescue operation was evidence of cooperation between both levels of government.

Marindoti said, “I know that Peter Obi said the president has not called Seyi Makinde since they got kidnapped, I guess right now we can say that call was never needed because they were working together and Seyi Makinde has actually congratulated the president and celebrated with Nigerians.”

According to him, the successful operation showed that effective collaboration in addressing security challenges does not always depend on public displays of communication. He maintained that what mattered most was the safe return of the victims and the coordinated efforts that made it possible.

The rescue of the students and their principal brought relief to families, residents, and Nigerians who had followed the incident with concern. Security agencies carried out the operation after days of efforts to secure the victims’ freedom, with the rescued students and school principal later expressing gratitude to the government and security personnel.

Marindoti said the development should encourage Nigerians to place national interest above partisan politics, particularly when lives are at stake. He noted that security challenges require cooperation among all levels of government regardless of political affiliation….See More
