A video that is now trending online has left many Nigerians in tears and anger after a newborn baby was found abandoned inside a cement bag in Ogun State. The child was rescued alive, thanks to a passerby who stopped to investigate a cry coming from a discarded bag.

The incident happened on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Residents in the community said they heard a faint baby’s cry coming from near a roadside. A passerby moved closer, opened the cement bag, and found a tiny newborn wrapped and dumped inside. People quickly gathered around as rescuers carefully brought the baby out. The infant’s weak cry could be heard in the video as the bag was opened, and shouts of relief went up from the crowd.

The baby was rushed straight to a nearby hospital. Doctors later confirmed that the child is alive and stable. Many of those at the scene were seen thanking God that the newborn did not die inside the bag.
