Abayomi Arabambi, the Labour Party’s National Vice Chairman (South-West), alleged that Peter Obi should face investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, claiming campaign-related bank accounts were opened without the knowledge of the party leadership, warranting official scrutiny and investigation.
According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of SYMFONI on Thursday, July 9, 2026, while alleging financial irregularities involving Peter Obi’s campaign structure, he stated, “I have petitioned the EFCC because Obi will never escape; I petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and these are the four accounts that must be investigated.”
Arabambi claimed the accounts were opened with different commercial banks without the Labour Party’s knowledge, maintaining that the party only became aware of them when those involved allegedly sought authorization documents required by banks before withdrawals could proceed.
He further argued that the matter deserved careful examination by investigators, insisting he had already submitted relevant petitions and documents to the appropriate authorities, while maintaining that his allegations were supported by materials he intended to rely upon publicly.
During the interview, Arabambi also questioned the role of individuals he alleged became signatories to the campaign accounts, arguing that party officials, including Julius Abure and the party secretary, were allegedly unaware when those banking arrangements were established.
The interviewer, however, challenged parts of Arabambi’s assertions, noting that the allegations remained unproven and raising questions about whether the accounts were campaign accounts rather than official Labour Party accounts, prompting further clarification from the Labour Party chieftain.
