The wife of former Kaduna State Governor, Asiya El-Rufai, has argued that the stringent bail conditions imposed on her husband have made it practically impossible for him to regain his freedom despite facing charges she described as bailable under Nigerian law.

Asiya further stated that, beyond the financial requirements, the court also required an attestation from the Kaduna State Traditional Council. She claimed that despite the family’s efforts, they were unable to obtain the required document, making it impossible to perfect the bail conditions.
She also alleged that attempts to verify property documents were frustrated because the Kaduna State land registry was not operational during the period, further delaying the process.
