Pearse: We Have Given Him 3 Days To Issue A Public Apology On Arise TV, Channels TV, And AIT-Okolugbo

In a fiery interview on Arise News, Kenny Okolugbo, media aide and consultant on communications and strategy to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, issued a stern ultimatum to political commentator Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, demanding a public apology over what he described as “defamatory and misleading remarks” made against the Senate President.

Okolugbo, speaking from the Arise Abuja studio, made it clear that Pearse’s comments during a recent broadcast were “not only false but designed to malign the character and reputation” of Senator Akpabio. He warned that failure to retract the statement and apologize publicly would result in legal action.

According to Okolugbo, “We have given him three days to issue a public apology on Arise TV, Channels TV, and AIT.” He added that the Senate President’s media team had already notified their legal counsel to prepare the necessary documents should Pearse fail to comply within the stated period.

The political strategist described the attack as part of a larger pattern of “deliberate misinformation and character assassination” targeted at prominent figures in the current administration. “Freedom of speech does not give anyone the right to peddle lies,” Okolugbo asserted. “We are setting a precedent that accountability must exist, even in public discourse.”

He emphasized that Senator Akpabio has worked tirelessly to maintain the stability of the National Assembly and ensure effective governance, calling on commentators and opposition figures to “engage in issue-based discussions rather than resorting to personal insults.”

Okolugbo further noted that the media remains a crucial partner in democracy but must be used responsibly. “We respect divergent opinions,” he said, “but when opinions become falsehoods, they cross the line into defamation, and we will not tolerate that.”
