The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has recorded a remarkable surge in public interest, according to Hon. Afam Ogene, who recently defected to the party.

Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV May 15, 2026, Ogene pointed to social media activity as an independent measure of the growing momentum behind the platform.

Ogene directed attention to Facebook, a platform neither controlled by him nor any political actor, as an open space where the scale of public enthusiasm for the NDC can be independently observed and verified through content analysis and user engagement numbers.

He further noted that the excitement around Mr. Peter Obi reached extraordinary levels, with some Nigerians expressing willingness to follow him to any gathering, whether a birthday party or a Christian Women Organisation event, regardless of its political relevance.

Ogene concluded by questioning the source of such deep and widespread loyalty, openly wondering what could explain the level of dedication these supporters were showing toward Mr. Peter Obi.
