A Lagos-based businessman, Onyema Ekpenyong, has shared some details about the life of his late brother, Andrew, who was killed in South Africa.
In an interview with PUNCH on Saturday, May 9, 2026, Ekpenyong said Andrew was a mechanic who used to live in Abuja, where he worked for himself.
He explained that Andrew left Abuja when demolition exercises were carried out during the time Nasir El-Rufai was Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. According to him, Andrew’s workshop was affected, which forced him to move.
He further stated that Andrew first went to the northern part of the country, stayed there for a while, later moved to Lagos, and eventually travelled to South Africa in 2007 in search of better opportunities.
