Reactions As Shehu Sani Says Jonathan Is Called Out To Contest Each Time Election Is On The Horizon

Reactions have trailed comments by former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, following reports that supporters are urging former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election.

According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria on Thursday, some political supporters recently approached Jonathan and encouraged him to indicate interest in the next presidential race, assuring him of widespread support across the country.

The former president reportedly told the group that he would consult widely before making his position known.

Reacting to the development, Shehu Sani shared a cryptic remark suggesting that calls for Jonathan’s return to active politics often resurface whenever elections draw near.

“Each time the election season is upon the horizon, GEJ is called out to contest. It’s left for the zebra to decide on how to cross the crocodile-infested river,” Sani stated.

His comment has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians interpreting it as advice for caution, while others viewed it as a subtle endorsement of Jonathan’s political relevance.

Jonathan, who served as president from 2010 to 2015, has repeatedly been mentioned in discussions surrounding possible presidential comebacks, particularly during election cycles.

Political analysts say the renewed calls reflect ongoing debates within the opposition and among some political blocs over who could emerge as a consensus figure ahead of the 2027 elections.

As of the time of filing this report, Jonathan has not officially declared any intention to contest the presidency again…See More
