The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted reports suggesting that the Supreme Court of Nigeria upheld the suspension of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
In a clarification shared on Thursday, April 30, 2026, through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike stated that the claims being circulated in sections of the media were inaccurate and misleading. He explained that the issue of Anyanwu’s suspension was never part of any matter decided by the Supreme Court.
According to the minister’s clarification, there was no legal question before the apex court regarding the suspension of the PDP National Secretary. He stressed that the reports attributing such a decision to the court were based on misinformation and should be disregarded.
Wike further emphasized that it is important for the public and the media to rely on verified facts, especially when reporting judicial matters. He warned against the spread of narratives that could distort court judgments or create unnecessary political tension within parties.
The statement also noted that misrepresenting court rulings could mislead party members and the general public, particularly at a time when internal disagreements are already being discussed within the PDP.
The clarification comes amid ongoing conversations within the opposition party regarding its leadership structure and internal administration. Various stakeholders within the PDP have continued to express differing positions on party matters, contributing to heightened political attention.
Wike’s comments are seen as part of efforts to correct public perception and prevent further confusion over the status of legal proceedings involving party officials….See More
