According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, on Monday April 27, 2026, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has shared his views on the possible impact of an opposition alliance ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, stating that the coalition of opposition parties has the potential to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but warned that internal divisions could weaken the effort.
In a statement released by his media aide, Ayodele explained that the idea of presenting a single candidate is a strong strategy, according to him, such unity could put serious pressure on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), however, he cautioned that not all members of the alliance may remain committed until the end.
The cleric pointed out that unity is the key factor that will determine the success or failure of the opposition and stressed that if the parties involved can remain united throughout the political process, they could pose a real threat to the current administration, without that unity, he believes the alliance may struggle to achieve its goals.
Ayodele raised concerns about possible betrayal within the coalition and noted that some individuals in the alliance may not fully support the common objective, this lack of trust, he said, could lead to cracks within the group as the election approaches.
In addition, he warned that external pressures could further weaken the alliance and suggested that those with strong influence within the coalition may face challenges that could reduce their effectiveness, this, he said, could make it harder for the alliance to stay together.
“If opposition alliance are united till the end, they can shake Tinubu. The president will be gone, he will feel the heat if they are totally united; that’s the only thing that can give the project success. APC will find it tough if they are united, but not everyone there is ready for success,” he said….See More
