Ulasi: BAT Organized The Entire Northern Governors’ Support, Became A Candidate, & Won The Election

In a recent interview on Arise TV, Dan Ulasi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spoke on political mobilization, electoral strategy, and how major victories are often shaped by elite consensus and regional alliances.

During the interview, Ulasi stated, “BAT organized the entire Northern Governors’ support, became a candidate, and won the election.” He made the remark while reflecting on how President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured political backing ahead of his emergence and eventual victory under the All Progressives Congress.

He said political success in Nigeria is often determined not only by party structures but also by strategic alliances among influential stakeholders, particularly governors and regional power blocs.

Ulasi explained that the alignment of Northern governors played a significant role in shaping the outcome of the presidential race, describing it as a coordinated political process that strengthened Tinubu’s candidacy.

He added that such mobilization reflects the realities of Nigerian politics, where consensus-building among elites often influences electoral outcomes more than individual popularity alone.

The PDP chieftain noted that understanding these dynamics is important for opposition parties as they prepare for future contests, stressing that disunity within parties often weakens their competitiveness.

He argued that opposition groups must learn from past elections by strengthening internal cohesion and building broader coalitions across regions.

Ulasi further maintained that political victories are rarely accidental, but are usually the result of deliberate planning, negotiations, and strategic partnerships.

He concluded by emphasizing that future elections will continue to be shaped by similar alliances, urging political actors to engage in more structured and transparent consensus-building processes….See More
