Former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, has stirred debate with his strong comments about the detention of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Speaking during a TV interview shared by SYMFONI TV, Yusuf argued that El-Rufai’s current situation is not just about legal issues but politics. According to him, El-Rufai played a role in helping Bola Ahmed Tinubu become president, but later fell out politically, which may have led to his troubles.
Yusuf criticized the charges against El-Rufai, describing them as weak and unconvincing. He suggested that many legal experts also see the case as lacking strong evidence. In his view, the situation reflects a pattern where individuals who oppose those in power may face pressure through legal actions.
He also expressed concern about how security agencies are being perceived, saying that past members might feel disappointed with how things are currently handled.
