According to an Anadolu English report of Wednesday 25 of March 2026, Iran has called on countries across the Middle East to form a regional “security and military alliance” that would exclude both the United States (US) and Israel, as tensions continue to rise following weeks of conflict.
The appeal was made on Wednesday by Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, in a video message directed to nations in the Arab and Islamic world.
“The time has come to establish a security alliance without the presence of the United States and Israel,” Zolfaghari said.
He framed the ongoing confrontation as a turning point in regional dynamics, describing recent U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran as part of a broader escalation.
According to Zolfaghari, these developments represent a “new phase” of conflict, with Iran positioning itself as a leading force in what he described as the defence of the Islamic world.
He urged regional governments to reduce reliance on foreign powers and instead build a unified security framework rooted in shared religious and cultural principles.
“We must unite to guarantee our security and move towards a collective security charter based on Islam and the Quran as a reference, core and solid foundation,” he said.
Zolfaghari also stressed that countries in the region are capable of ensuring their own stability without outside intervention, calling for a renewed focus on internal cooperation and solidarity.
His remarks come amid heightened hostilities that began on February 28, when the US and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian targets. The attacks marked a significant escalation in tensions that had been building over months.
In response, Iran has carried out multiple retaliatory operations, including drone and missile strikes. Some of these attacks have targeted Israeli positions, while others have been directed at Gulf states hosting U.S. military installations.
