Speaking during a recent briefing, Trump described the adversary in stark terms, stating, “They’re a sick group of people,” as he emphasized what he sees as a complete breakdown of their military structure. He further outlined the extent of the damage inflicted, adding, “The leadership is gone. The Navy is gone. The Air Force is gone. The anti-aircraft equipment that they have, the radar they have is all gone. Everything’s gone.”
According to the president, U.S. forces have made significant progress in maintaining control over a key international shipping passage. “The strait itself… we’re doing a good job,” he said, suggesting that operations aimed at ensuring stability in the area are largely effective.
Trump, however, stressed that the responsibility for safeguarding such routes should not fall solely on the United States. He pointed to the heavy dependence of major economies on the passage, particularly in terms of energy supplies. “It would be nice if the countries, including China, if the countries that use it… China uses it 90 percent of their energy. Japan is 95 percent of the energy,” he noted.
